I told you mamma was into cooking so to celebrate the start of the Olympic games Bubu and I got our hands into flour, eggs, sugar basically we made a mess but we had so much fun and got some good results too.

London cupcakes

Olympic cake

This was mamma’s first attempt to bake cupcakes but I have to say it was very easy. I suggest you to follow the recipe I got from the BBC food website .

Gosh it was difficult to make the rings!

To bake these cupcakes I used the muffing maker which produces smaller cupcakes but in only 1o minutes!

Happy Olympic Games!

Thai time

Since my trip to Bali looong time ago, I have been in love with Thai food so whenever I feel like I’ve eaten too much pasta, I open my lovely Thai recipes books and pick one.

Tonight I cooked the following

Yummy! Let’s zoom on the ingredients:

If someone can tell me where I can find tamarind pulp then I would be grateful but my version had to do without it.

The method is really simple: just pour one third of the coconut milk in a warm pan (probably better a wok but as I don’t have it I use my favourite pan which is ceramic coated- courtesy of husband Daniele) heat it until bubbling.

Then add the curry past and stir over.

Add the remaining coconut milk, the water, the chillies, fish sauce (very stinky!).

Bring slowly to the boil then simmer for 8-10 minutes

Add the prawns, the tomatoes and pineapple. Cook gently for 3-4 minutes then at the last moment add the basil leaves.

Transfer to a bowl, take a picture of it and put it on Instagram, come on show off your cooking skills!!

Easy to make. Looks good and taste delicious!

Papa’ gives Bee her bottle and places her in our bed. All of the sudden Bee stops drinking and says:

“Marry a Prince…”

Ehm… a bit perplexed I reply “Pardon darling? What did you just say?”

“Marry a Prince!”

“Oh you want mummy to marry a Prince?”

“No, Beatrice marry  Prince”

“Awww… Ok darling… good luck!”

Pregnant CEO

family Comments Off on Pregnant CEO

As soon as I saw the words “pregnant ” and “new CEO” put together, I quickly realised that something special was happening as it doesn’t happen often to see those words next to each others..

You have no idea how emotional I felt by reading the news this morning about Marissa Mayer, new Yahoo CEO and pregnant! Wow, I totally had shivers and a great feeling of respect for whoever decided that being pregnant and be promoted at the same time was finally acceptable.

Brilliant… just brilliant…

I then started reading different views on the news and while some of them just filled me with joy as people like me totally realised the important achievement in this woman’s life and hopefully a beginning of a radical change in society where we could actually see more working mums covering top roles, I sadly came across to different opinion of sceptical  people who were doubting the possibility that a mum to be could fit such an important role. Their argument is that she will probably be in need of an entourage of people able to patiently accommodate a “soon mum to be” moods and wishes.

Silly.. pathetic..disgusting… narrow minded people who still believe only man can rule the world. I cannot wait until Marissa will prove them wrong once again.

Yahoo made such a statement by taking Marissa on board and I just cannot express how much respect they earned by doing this from my part and probably from all the other working mums in the world.

Well done Yahoo!

Congratulations Marissa!
