I told you mamma was into cooking so to celebrate the start of the Olympic games Bubu and I got our hands into flour, eggs, sugar basically we made a mess but we had so much fun and got some good results too.
London cupcakes
Olympic cake
This was mamma’s first attempt to bake cupcakes but I have to say it was very easy. I suggest you to follow the recipe I got from the BBC food website .
Gosh it was difficult to make the rings!
To bake these cupcakes I used the muffing maker which produces smaller cupcakes but in only 1o minutes!
Happy Olympic Games!
I still remember my Barbie collection and the clothing I had and the shoooes and the chewed feet “yum yum” the gum was quite good to bite off and the shoes used to fit better after that!
So far Beatrice has only got 4 Barbie. You would think “why only 4?!?” Yeah exactly why..I tell you why, it’s all my husband’s fault! You should have seen how crossed he got the first time I brought up this “Barbie topic”. Gosh he got concerned ( the tone of his voice was serious as if we had to take the important decision about which school we were going to send Beatrice to)
“ I don’t want dolls around the house!” Actually he added “No dolls/no pink clothes/no pots and pans/no princess dresses” ( yeah I know crazy! I will talk about this “issue” another time) .
My reply to all that nonsense was a straight “ehm excuse meeee, you had a baby girl and unless you want to see her during her teenage years walking around in military clothes and act like a combat boy then you better let her be more feminine, make her like girly stuff and just let her…
ADOOORE BARBIE
*love*
Gosh I truly love Barbie and I’d love to have a full collection “for my daughter” and have different shoooes… and cloooothes …and all possible accessories. Talking about accessories I remember when I was little one the day I went over to my friend’s house to play with her new Barbie house that she got as a present. I was so excited to finally be playing with it and then make Barbie prepare teaaa, put her to beeed and sit her on the sofaaa. Damn! The house was so far too small! Barbie could not even fit properly in the elevator (by the way the elevator which was lifted manually by a thread, kept collapsing from floor 3 to ground zero so Barbie fell out most of the times- not fun) but yeah everything was definitely tiny compared to Barbie’s size. Even the furniture the house was coming with.. in the adverts that I used to see on “Topolino” the sofa looked lovely and cosy, the chairs looked comfortable… the truth?!? They were actually made of hard plastic not even nicely shaped and they definitely looked too cheap for my Barbie.
After my initial disappointment, I wasn’t actually bothered too much about the fact that I could not have a Barbie house.. it was pointless anyway for my BE-AU-TI-FUL Barbie, she deserved better.
Something that I DO remember totally upset me is that Barbie’s boyfriend was … tadaaaaaaaaam
BIG JIM
yes big Jim! My lovely “Barbie fior di pesca” (Barbie “peaches and cream” ) had to go out with big Jim wearing lumberjack clothing. He didn’t have WHATSOEVER the charm, the smart outfit or the beauty of Ken (plus Big Jim had a stupid button on the back and when you pressed it, his right arm snapped – Barbie got systematically punched).
As if it wasn’t enough, I even had the green jeep, not the elegant limousine but the jeep … seriously what’s the point to buy a gorgeous princess Barbie if then you have to see her sitting with her beautiful peachy dress on a bloody military jeep next to a scruffy muscle plastic toy ?!?!
Bless my mum.. .I remember for some strange reason she never bought us Ken but a friend of her gave us big Jim and the jeep as a present so that’s what we had to play with. Oh well I was happy anyway cause I remember my dad made some real wooden furniture for my Barbie and this time they were on scale so Barbie could actually sit on the bench and eat at the table and properly lie in her carefully crafted bed. Then my mum used to sew little shirts and skirts and every now and again she used to knit tiny scarfs or little jumpers for her…aww beautiful times.
These are the reasons why I care so much to pass on to Beatrice this love for Barbie as this doll reminds me of a very sweet time of my childhood when by playing with Barbie I could really dream and let my imagination go.
By the way, maybe it was a sign as my husband is actually more a Big Jim than a Ken. Without the jeep though but the hair look the same.
