Magic playdates

For the last couple of weeks the weather has been pretty awful so we have spent our afternoons mainly playing indoors.

While we were waiting for our friend Max to come over to play, Bee dressed up like a fairy and took care of her Magic Fairy garden. It was a present for her birthday and together with Nonna, she planted the seed for the grass to grow. Although she keeps forgetting to water it (!!) the grass now is pretty high so both Leo and Bee spend their playful afternoons imagining faires coming into the little garden and hiding precious jems in the grass (or driving a car like faires normally do obviously!)

“Is anyone hiding there?”

Because they had been waiting for Max to arrive for a while, the kids started to be hungry so I thought why not have a quick snack before Max comes. Usually in the afternoon we have either pancakes or yoghurt and today we tried for the first time the new Petits Filous Magic Squares in Strawberry & Vanilla Flavour and Raspberry & Vanilla flavour.

IMG_3643Bee was pleasently surprised by the little square inside the pot

Happy faces all over! Leo finished the whole pot in 3 big spoons!

IMG_3672And even tried to get a little more from Bee’s pot

When Max finally arrived obviously there was no way that Bee and Leo would have just sit there and watch Max eating his own Petit Filous so they got another one each!

Sometimes I think it’s so easy to make kids happy with the simplest things. The magic mix for us is having a lovely friend to play with, giving them a toy which builds their imagination and feeding them with a good, healthy snack. My kids can carry on playing for hours so mamma can finally have a break (and why not some Petit Filous too ;))

Fingerlicking snack!

I think this video of Bee is pretty funny.  Notice how she mixes up her two languages towards the end when she says “and then we are going comprare ancora (to buy more of) the same” LOL

Packing and playing

If you follow my Facebook page (if you don’t just get over and see the pictures of our lovely new place!) you would know by now that in few weeks time we are moving to a house! Yes a house, with a garden , with a huge kitchen with so many bedrooms and bathrooms!  I cannot even believe it’s going to be our place.

Moving is exciting times but packing is literally endless.. endless! Obviously every time we moved from a flat to a bigger one we bought more stuff, more kitchen gadgets (never too many!) and more toys! We have alreay packed at least 5 boxes of toys and we have left a few outside which will entertain the children while we are busy boxing all our items.

Just recently we got our kids some Mega blocks and I can tell you I’M SO glad we did because in difficult times like moving house there is nothing better than find the perfect toys which will entertain your kids for hours! Every time we take them out of the lovely storage bag,  both Leo and Bee play on the floor with them for ages!

Just recently  Leo has learned to hit people, cats, furniture with anything he holds in his little hands. I think he just likes the noise that the object makes agains something or the screams from Bee when he runs after her with the intention to hit her.  Poor Bee..

What I like about the mega blocks is that they are fairly light but at the same time stable when the kids build towers, houses, etc. therefore when they play with them, Leo can only knock the towers Bee builds as he doesn’t get any reaction when he attempts to hit her with one of these light block (a big plus when you leave them alone playing together!). Plus Mega block come in a big zipped bag so it’s very handy to keep them tidy and especially to pack them as the last item to take with us in our moving!

I like watching them playing together and the blocks are definitely helping their social skill. Although they fight to get the biggest piece or a certain colour, I can see that often they try to build together a tower or they help each other fetching the blocks a bit far away.  I always liked these simple toys because they encourage creative play in children and they can teach them about colours, shapes and balance. Plus it’s one of the few games that they can actually play together. Bee and Leo have 3 years between each others and often Bee enjoys playing with toys that are far too big for Leo. Mega blocks are actually easy for young toddlers to handle but still much fun for pre-schoolers because they free their imagination.

I’m planning to buy more of these Mega blocks as  both my children enjoy them plus we have still many many hours of packing so I better get some quickly!

Cool Christmas gifts for babies

Only few days to go until Christmas so if you are stuck for last minute present ideas for your baby (like I was!) I hope you will find some inspiration from this Christmas gift  list. It includes unique presents and some original ideas which your baby will love for sure!

These building blocks for example, are a lovely decoration for your baby’s nursery.

I find these elephant slippers too cute and so cozy to keep my baby’s feet warm. Plus I believe babies will love to chew their ears!

This is probably too big for your baby but while waiting for her to grow up, I think this shiny plane toy is a marvellous designer piece of furniture for her room

This simple wooden caterpillar is Leo’s obsession at the moment. He loves it!

We had such a cold November so these baby snow boots would be a must have for the months ahead. Warm and cute at the same time.

This drying rack is more a present for mommy…  Cups and feeding spoons are always laying messy next to my sink. This green grass will keep the place tidy in a designer way.

Who doesn’t feed pretending to fly an airplane? This wooden spoons will make “plane” feeding more fun.

Leo loves playing in the water and I’m sure this shower fountain would entertain him while being bathed.

Coming out of the water is alwasy a struggle but if the towel is a soft star maybe it would be a bit easier?

When Bee was one she received a lovely wooden rocking horse but a fluffy rocking sheep would be an original alternative.

What about a wooden rocking reindeer?

More shoes I know but these leather snowman baby shoes will keep your baby pretty steady especially when he’ll start experiencing his first steps.

To keep your baby’s head warm this  hat  would be perfect and it will make your baby even cuter (if possible!)

I’m in love with this swing! A great nursery decoration and much fun for your little one.

Just awwwwww…Baby grey mocassins

And if you want to give your baby the ultimate bath experience this baby Jacuzzi is a must!

Next I wanted to write a list of presents for mommies but then I thought it would be too short. Yeah, that’s right, because there is only thing that mammas need for Christmas … MORE SLEEP!
